Who can be in it?
Anyone who lives in Rochester or has a Rochester Public Library
How old do you have to be?
At least two, but much of the program is geared toward school-age kids.
What about kids in the Middle School?
They can be in it too. There is also a Teen Reading Program. (Info
available at the Main Desk.)
When does it end?
Friday, August 3rd is the last day of the program. We will have a party with games and refreshments for anyone who was part of the program (even those who didnít finish) from 2:00-3:30 that afternoon.
How many books do you have to read?
You set your own goal. When you choose your goal think about what kind of books you are reading (how hard and how long), and how much time youíll have to spend reading.
What if we are doing a Reading Program for School?
You can count any books you read for a school program toward our Summer Reading Program as well. And donít forget that we have all sorts of fun performers and programs!
Do we have to read Library books, books from the display, etc.?
You can read any book you like as long as it is the right level for you: not too hard and not too easy.
Can we read comic books?
What would your teacher or your Mom say? If they are not too easy for you then you may count them toward your goal.
What if weíre going away for part of the summer?
You can still be part of the program, just set a goal youíre sure you can reach before you go away (or after you come back).
