November 2009 Art Exhibit
Brenda Ferguson


Throughout October and November 2009, Dixmont, Maine artist Brenda Ferguson will exhibit her original pastel paintings at the Rochester Public Library. The exhibit is open to the public and will remain on display from October 15 through November 30, 2009 during regular library hours.

The public may join Brenda at the library on Monday, November 30 from 2:00- 4:00 p.m. to try pastels themselves. All materials are provided by the artist and participants may keep what they create.

The exhibit will feature approximately thirty of the artist’s latest works including landscapes and still lifes inspired by her rural Maine surroundings. All paintings are original works of art and are available for purchase.

Brenda is a self-taught artist and works primarily in soft pastels. She has had several solo exhibitions. Her art was featured in a six-page article in the July 2004 issue of American Artist magazine along with an interview. Other awards include first place in the pastel category at the Bangor Art Society’s 2005 juried competition and The Hunter Award for Excellence in the 2006 show. A recent corporate commission involved creating a 14’ x 32’ polyptich for Penn Nat’l Gaming’s casino at Hollywood Slots in Bangor, Maine opened in June, 2008.
In addition to painting daily and exhibiting her work, Brenda conducts school visits for children, teaches pastel painting workshops for adults. She also hosts annual events including a studio open house and summer art auction.
