“Well Worn”

Photographs by artist Justin Manteuffel

The Rochester Public Library will host "Well Worn," an exhibit of photographs by artist Justin Manteuffel of Rochester New Hampshire, from November 1 through the end of December during regular business hours.

Manteuffel, an active wedding photographer with Stonefield Studio of West Lebanon, Maine, has exhibited his work in many local photography contests and venues, including an exhibition at Dos Amigos Burritos in Dover, New Hampshire this past February. He recently designed the image used for the cover art of Sumner Island, a mystery thriller novel released in June by local author Michael Cormier.

In addition to Photography, Manteuffel also performs as an animator, web developer and visual effects artist for Deos Animation Studios in Lawrence, Massachusetts and has appeared on the American Public Television children’s learning series, Ribert & Robert’s WonderWorld, which has aired on over one hundred television stations worldwide. On the program, Manteuffel plays the part of “Justin the Photographer” and gives kids introduction to photography concepts such as light, lenses and the importance of picture taking.

"My surroundings are what inspire me the most," says Manteuffel, whose photographs mainly feature New England landscapes and architecture. "The challenge for me is in depicting everyday places in fresh, exciting ways. Lately, my focus has been on producing very large, colorful and highly detailed images."

Manteuffel has participated in the Rochester Public Library’s annual Photo Show four times in years past and claims to borrow as many books the library has available on the subject of photography as he can find. “Even in this digital age, the library is such a great resource,” says Manteuffel. “I’m always searching for both new and traditional methods to help me do the most with what I have. I’d rather read everything I can about photography from the library and spend my money on photo gear rather than on books.”
