Anne Vaughan Fills Rochester Library Walls with Color

South Berwick resident, Anne Vaughan, has a colorful new exhibit of paintings perfect for the summertime on the first floor of the Rochester Public Library.

Vaughan, a former Pennsylvania resident has retired to Maine to concentrate on her second career in art.  While most of her work depicts local Maine woods and coastline, some pieces draw inspiration from travel abroad.  All of her images are full of color, some gentle color blends, others darkly turbulent.  Vaughan’s work will be on exhibit at the Library through the end of August.

Artist's Statement:

I retired from Pennsylvania, returning to Maine where my children
were born and my father's family lived, to be near my grandchildren. I
enjoy greatly this opportunity to paint. I have in the past participated with showings in the Philadelphia area. I was also a docent at the Philadelphia Museum of Art.

My images are wide-ranging and include not only scenes from the
lovely Maine woods and coasts but images of imagined scenes from travels that incorporate colors and shapes reflecting other styles of painting. Many are brightly colorful, others are gentler pastel modes, and some are darkly turbulent.

My paintings are available for sale at prices that are negotiable and reasonable, generally $150 to $300. Paintings without their frames are at reduced prices.

I welcome your calls and visits to my home to see or make further inquiries about the painting
