December 2016 Art Exhibit
Matthew MacNown

The Rochester Public Library is pleased to present the work of local artist Matthew MacNown.  MacNown draws and paints as a form of meditation, using a variety of materials including colored pencils and acrylic paints to merge “stories, genres and cultural influences” into colorful narratives on paper.

MacNown says subject matter such as dragons and fairies, fly from his mind and soul.  He expresses his feelings of sorrow, rage and joy as he creates, while listening to classical music.  His favorite song is Moonlight Sonata because "it shows hope and despair, love and hate, life and death".

MacNown’s mixed media artwork will be on display during the month of December on the first floor of the Library.
