Database Login Information: Access to the following online databases is provided for Rochester Public Library patrons. You can access EBSCO Host, TOPIC Search, NoveList, MagillOnLiterature and Searchasaurus (blue background) by entering the barcode number from the back of your library card (2210...). Many peer reviewed and popular magazines are found in the MasterFILE Premier database, within the EBSCO Host suite of databases. Databases with the green background require a user I.D. and password. To obtain these, call or visit the library. After confirming your patron status, you will be provided with the necessary login information. Databases with the red background are only accessible from inside the Rochester Public Library. Please visit us to access these resources.

TOPICsearch This current events database allows researchers to explore social, political and economic issues, scientific discoveries and other popular topics discussed in today’s classrooms. TOPICsearch contains full text for over 50,000 articles from more than 3,000 diverse sources including international and regional newspapers, periodicals collections, biographies, public opinion polls, book reviews, pamphlets and government information. NoveList NoveList is a fiction readers' advisory service with over 100,000 titles in the database and 75,000 full text reviews. NoveList contains over 1,200 pre-constructed booklists on a wide range of topics and genres. NoveList now also contains Read-alikes. Written by Joyce Saricks, a nationally known readers' advisor, this powerful new resource describes an author's appeal and style and then defines how the suggested 'read-alikes' are selected based on the traits described for the author. Ancestry Library Provides instant access to more than 1 billion names, more than 3,000 databases, primary-source document images and a variety of genealogical research features including 450 million census records from the U.S. Federal Census between the years 1790 and 1930. In addition, AncestryPlus includes immigration, vital, military, court, church and ethnic records; city directories; genealogical societies; Social Security Death Index; Periodical Source Index; family history library; and much more.
