Library staff are happy to assist with name searches to find local obituaries. These obituaries can be printed from microfilm in the Nonfiction Department and can also be accessed through the Rochester Courier database.

A special thanks goes to long-time volunteer Cynthia Thomas, who has helped compile a comprehensive index of death notices and obituaries from local newspapers spanning 1891 to 2000. Our dedicated staff have developed a database and continue to collect and input obituaries up to the present day.

The index contains obituaries listed in the Rochester Courier (1884-1993), Rochester Times (1993-2005), and Fosters Daily Democrat (2015-present).

These listings cover the towns of Barrington, Farmington, Gonic, Milton, New Durham, and Rochester, while the Fosters Daily Democrat listings are specific to Rochester.
