March 2018 - Alan Gibson
The Rochester Public Library is pleased to present the work of Alan Gibson. His painted miniatures will be on display during the month of March in the display cases at the Main Desk. A local resident, Gibson is an avid reader of military history and enjoys using the figures to reenact battles, such as the Wars of Scottish Independence, as well as for playing fictional tabletop battle games.
Painted using water soluble acrylic paint, the plastic figures are 1/72 scale and represent soldiers from such historical events as the Battle of Chalons. Gibson has been painting these and similar figures since the 1970’s. The hobby grew from his interest in assembling plastic model kits. The figures were sold in the same stores and appealed to Gibson’s love of history.
Gibson’s figures will be displayed on the first floor of the Library through the month of March. The Rochester Public Library is located at 65 South Main Street. Please call 603-332-1428 or visit www.rpl.lib.nh.us for more details.
