August 2017 - Bruce Bacon

The Rochester Public Library is pleased to host an exhibit of artwork by local artist, Bruce Bacon through the month of August.

The show, entitled, Sublime to Ridiculous II – what one artist’s wife endures, features a selection of Bacon’s oil paintings. His works include a mix of landscape and still life pieces, as well as a more abstract series, which focuses on heads. Rich colors enliven scenes of traditional New England life, from oceans to farmland, while light and shadow bring attention to a familiar face in a portrait of Senator Jeanne Shaheen.

Bacon hails from New Hampshire’s North Country. He has had several one-man shows and has participated in many group shows throughout the 60+ years he has painted. His work is included in numerous collections both at home and abroad. Bacon says he can usually be found in his Rochester studio or traipsing around the state working on the sublime part.
