SEASONS
Both intimate and expansive, “Seasons” by mixed-media artist Carla M Zwahlen’s paintings are rooted in personal experience yet resonate with universal rhythms of change and memory. Zwahlen, a graduate of the Boston Art Institute, has exhibited widely throughout New England in solo and invitational shows with work held in private collections across the United States, France, and Switzerland. Her paintings are also included in the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center’s permanent art collection. Notably, her pastel, The Blue Lady, and the story behind the painting have been on display in the Cancer Center for many years, where she served as a source of encouragement for cancer patients and their families, underscoring art's quiet power to comfort and inspire. As one woman who viewed The Blue Lady painting and read the story wrote, “Your story has provided me with comfort for months. I am moved even now, remembering the painting.” Zwahlen received a note from a fellow who purchased the oil painting, “Tide Change.”
“You captured the miracle of the beach and the sea at a special moment. I will find peace and inspiration looking at your painting every New Hampshire artist Carla M. Zwahlen’s “Seasons”, a dynamic exploration of land, sea, and mountain, will be on display at the Rochester Library for the month of August 2026. She works from her studio in Mont Vernon, NH, where she also mentors young artists and pianists to express themselves and master the music and art they love and never thought they could play.
