September 2019 - Beth Wittenberg

The Rochester Public Library is pleased to present the artwork of Beth Wittenberg during the month of September.

Wittenberg on her work-" People who are familiar with my work will notice that this work contains my signature style, a graffiti or street art style which incorporates strong graphic images with words. This raw approach to materials and subject matter are what drive the artist."I am influenced by street art pop surrealism, children's art, art brut, and a visual language made up of texture, patterns, and color with an emphasis on words, signs, and symbols." Wittenberg received her Masters of Fine Arts at the Maryland Institute, College of Art in Baltimore MD, she reportedly feels like an outsider artist.
